Tennis courts in our neighborhood sit empty because nobody owns a racket. Thirty kids get a racket to keep and a summer of free coaching.

The city resurfaced the courts at the rec center two years ago, and they are mostly unused. Our coaches, two of them former college players, run a free beginner program there every summer, and every year we turn kids away for lack of rackets. This request buys a junior racket for each child to keep, balls and a ball machine, and the court reservation fees for ten weeks.
