Drowning is a leading cause of death for young children, and the families least likely to afford lessons are the most likely to live near a reservoir or a pool with no lifeguard. The school's PE teacher asked us whether we could help, and our coaches offered their time. This request covers pool rental for eight Saturday mornings, a swimsuit and goggles for each child who needs them, and a bus to and from the school.
